Catherine Hedberg, mezzo-soprano

Praised for her “soulful singing” by The Boston Globe, mezzo-soprano Catherine Hedberg is an active performer in recital, oratorio, and chamber music. Recent solo engagements include Bach's B Minor Mass, Cantatas BWV 11 and 34 with the Cantata Singers in Jordan Hall, Mozart's Missa Brevis in F with the Nashua Symphony Choral Society, and Mozart's Vesperae Solennes de Confessore with the Handel Society at Dartmouth College. She was a soloist in Bach's Cantata BWV 146 under the direction of Ton Koopman in Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall, and appeared with the Musicians of the Old Post Road as Dameta in Caldara's Amarilli Vezzosa. Other solo performances include Mozart's Requiem, Duruflé's Requiem, Brahms' Neue Liebeslieder Waltzer, and Liszt's Via Crucis, with organizations including the Newport Baroque Orchestra, Assabet Valley Mastersingers and Symphony Pro Musica, and Masterworks Chorale. In recital, Ms. Hedberg's repertoire spans from music of the Spanish Renaissance to the Brahms viola songs to new music by American composers. She has a particular interest in Spanish song and has presented well-loved and lesser-known works of Iberian composers in the United States and Spain.
